Washington's birthday is a US federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of George Washington.

Washington is the first president of the United States and is known for leading the Continental Army to victory in the American Revolutionary War and helping create the U.S. Constitution.

The holiday has become an occasion to celebrate the birthdays of both President George Washington and President Abraham Lincoln.

Major banks and U.S. Postal Service offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19 in observance of George Washington's birthday, a holiday more commonly known as Presidents Day.
